With the Election getting closer… The two US presidential continue to criticize and attack each other personally

As the presidential election approaches, the two candidates continue to launch sharp attacks, some of which are becoming more personal.

From her part, Democratic candidate, and the current vice president, Kamala Harris called her opponent, the former President Donald Trump a “fascist” during a CNN event in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, a move that reflects her efforts to raise the tone of her rhetoric toward him as the election approaches.

Harris’s comments came on the heels of warnings from John Kelly, the retired Marine general who served as Trump’s longest-serving White House chief of staff.

Kelly warned this week that Trump adheres to “the general definition of fascism,” noting that Trump has privately expressed admiration for dictators, wishing he had military generals as loyal as the “Nazi leaders”.

“Kelly’s comments are a cry for help to the American people,” the Democratic presidential candidate said.

“We’ve to take seriously what people who know him say,” she said, referring to a number of former Trump advisers who have warned against trusting him.

When asked by host Anderson Cooper, “Do you think Donald Trump is a fascist?” Harris replied clearly, “Yes, I do”.

She added, “It’s important that we don’t have a president who admires dictators”.

Harris stressed the need not to elect someone who many consider “dangerous,” and said that Trump, as commander in chief, told his generals, “Why can’t you be more like Hitler’s generals?”

The remarks come as Harris seeks to unite voters around a vision that opposes Trump, and she has signaled support from some Republicans wary of Trump’s authoritarian tendencies, such as former Rep. Liz Cheney, who is campaigning with her this week.

In a quick response, Trump tweeted after the event, accusing Harris of “feeling like she’s losing” and “escalating her rhetoric, even calling him Adolf Hitler”.

Harris, however, made it clear that she didn’t use this description of Trump, but stressed that Americans deserve a president who encourages healthy debate and works in cooperation with others without comparing himself to “Hitler”.

Following the event, Harris answered questions from an audience member about her position on abortion, stressing that she wasn’t trying to change his views, and that her position didn’t conflict with anyone’s religious views.

In parallel, Trump gave a 90-minute speech in Traverse City, Michigan, where he continued to make personal insults, calling Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz a “sick man” and referring to Harris as a “low IQ”.

Trump continued to criticize Detroit, expressing his displeasure at what he called “stupid politicians” who have destroyed the city.

He also repeated many of his usual talking points, noting that immigrants are coming from prisons and mental institutions, and expressing his intention to “save every city in America” from what he called “bloody criminals”.

At the end of his speech, Trump invited Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to speak to his supporters, pointing to their support as evidence that his supporters also come from left-leaning backgrounds.
