Washington’s envoy tours the Syrian occupied Golan Heights along the Israeli defense minister

US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack toured the occupied Syrian Golan Heights on Wednesday, accompanied by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and senior officials.

Earlier on Wednesday, Barrack, who also serves as US ambassador to Türkiye, arrived in Israel.

The Israel 24 website reported that, “Tom Barrack, President Trump’s envoy for Syrian affairs and US ambassador to Türkiye, arrived in Israel to meet with senior Israeli officials”.

According to the Israeli website, “the talks will focus on the situation in Syria and the ongoing tensions between Israel and Türkiye”.

Barrack toured the Golan Heights accompanied by Israeli officials, as he along with Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz headed the tour, and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, the Northern Command Commander, and a number of senior IDF officials participated.

Israel presented to Barrack what they claimed were security threats posed by the new Syria led by Ahmed al Sharaa, as she put it.

The tour came a day after mortar shells were fired from the Syrian Golan Heights into Israeli territory, the senior US official visited strategic points in the area.

Barrack’s visit to Israel came after the Israeli army continued its aggression against the Syrian territories.
