Violent Russian bombing of Kiev and the Ukrainian army raises its state of alert

Two Ukrainian officials said that Russia launched a drone attack on Kiev in the early hours of the morning, while aircraft debris led to a fire in a residential building in one of the areas of the capital.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram that the loud explosions heard in the city were due to the work of the air defense systems that participated in repelling the attack.

He added that the wreckage of the drone led to a fire in the Desnyansky area.

The area located on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River is the most densely populated area in Kiev.

Serhiy Popko, head of the military administration in Kiev, said emergency services were also sent to the Holosievsky district along the western bank of the Dnipro River.

Bobko wrote via Telegram that there were no immediate reports of casualties.

The Ukrainian army raised its air alert on Tuesday, warning of the threat of Russian missile strikes.

The Ukrainian Air Force said on Telegram, “Missile danger in areas where an air warning was issued!”
