The aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford deployed in the Mediterranean will return to the United States within days

The US Navy announced on Monday that the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford will be returned to the United States in the coming days after it was hastily sent to the Mediterranean following the attack launched by Hamas on Israel on October 7.
The USS Gerald R. Ford, which was sent to contribute to our regional deterrence and defense positioning, will return to its home port as planned, in order to prepare for future deployments, the Navy said in a statement.
The statement stated, “The US Department of Defense is constantly evaluating the positioning of forces globally, and will maintain extensive capabilities in the Mediterranean and across the Middle East”.
The Navy also indicated that it’s cooperating with allies and partners to enhance maritime security in the region.
The US navy added that the pentagon will continue to rely on its presence in the region to deter any state or non-governmental entity from escalating this crisis beyond Gaza.
After the surprise attack launched by Hamas on Israel on October 7, Washington provided military support to the Hebrew state and strengthened its forces in the region, especially through the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and other warships.
