Turkish President announces his country’s accession to the genocide case in Gaza against Israel

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the legal committee of his country’s parliament will hand over to the International Court of Justice the request for Ankara to join the genocide case against Israel on August 7.

During a press conference on Monday after chairing a cabinet meeting at the presidential complex in Ankara, Erdogan added that Türkiye stands with Palestine and supports the Palestinian brothers with all their capabilities despite the economic difficulties they are experiencing these days.

Regarding the Israeli attacks on Gaza, the Turkish president stressed that they are doing everything we can to end this barbarism that has claimed the lives of 40,000 innocent people in the past ten months, as soon as possible.

“The West, especially the United States, have unfortunately become captives of Israel and a handful of fanatical Zionists,” he said.

Regarding the prisoner exchange between 7 countries in Ankara, Erdogan congratulated the Turkish intelligence service and its elements who played a sensitive role in the important exchange process, which established the pivotal role of Türkiye in addition to its humanitarian dimension.

“The exchange of 26 people in prisons in the United States, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Norway, Russia and Belarus was carried out without any problems and was a model for the world,” Erdogan said.

Erdogan also said that the region is witnessing difficult days, noting that there are no signs on the horizon about the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which has passed for more than two years.

He added that by the 10th month of the attacks on the Gaza Strip, the death of Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas’ political bureau, marked a new threshold in the Gaza crisis.

He stressed that the aggressive stance of the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which doesn’t recognize laws or customs, makes our region face bad scenarios.

He said Netanyahu’s government has repeatedly shown its desire to continue the policy of massacres despite Hamas’ constructive positions.

Erdogan warned of the consequences of the Netanyahu government continuing its efforts to expand the war in the region as long as the forces supporting it continue their contradictory policies towards the Gaza war.
