Trump: Ukraine may become Russian one day
In an interview with Fox News, the US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine must ensure the protection of resources provided by the United States, noting that there is a possibility that Ukraine will come under Russian control in the future.
Trump explained that Ukraine has lands rich in rare metals, oil, gas, and other important natural resources, saying, “We want to make sure that our money is safe, because we have spent hundreds of billions of dollars… They may decide to make the deal or they may not, but in the end, Ukraine may or may not be part of Russia”.
Trump added that the United States is keen to recover its resources, explaining, “We want to get back what we give”.
He pointed out that his country has provided Ukraine with more than $300 billion, and may reach $350 billion, while Europe has provided only about $100 billion.
Trump had previously called on European countries to increase their support for Ukraine to match the level of support provided by the United States, and he recently expressed Washington’s interest in supplying rare metals from Ukraine in exchange for the financial support it provides to it.
