Trump: Netanyahu is a hero and we won’t tolerate his continued trial!

US President Donald Trump said Saturday that the United States won’t tolerate the continued trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on corruption charges.
“The United States of America spends billions of dollars a year, far more than any other country, to protect and support Israel… We’ll not tolerate this,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Trump described Netanyahu as a “war hero,” adding that the Israeli prime minister “has done a fantastic job working with the United States to achieve great success in eliminating the grave nuclear threat from Iran… Most importantly, he is now negotiating a deal with Hamas, which will include the return of the hostages”.
Last Thursday, Trump expressed his displeasure with Netanyahu’s trial in his country, calling for it to be canceled.
Trump said in his post, “The United States saved Israel, and now it will be the one saving Bibi Netanyahu,” as he likes to call the Israeli prime minister.
The US president added, “I was shocked to hear that the State of Israel, which just witnessed one of its greatest moments in history, and is led by Netanyahu, continues its ridiculous campaign against its own wartime prime minister”.
Trump described Netanyahu as “a warrior, perhaps unlike any warrior in Israel’s history, and the result was something no one could have imagined: the total elimination of one of the largest and most powerful nuclear weapons in the world,” referring to Iran.
He continued, “We were literally fighting for Israel’s survival, and no one in Israel’s history has fought more courageously or more competently than Bibi Netanyahu… Despite all of this, I just learned that Bibi was summoned to court on Monday to continue this long-running case”.
Trump considered the case against Netanyahu “politically motivated, involving cigars, Bugs Bunny, and many other unjust charges, designed to cause him great harm… Such persecution of a man who has given so much is unimaginable to me… He deserves far better, and so does the State of Israel”.
Trump stressed that “Bibi Netanyahu’s trial should be immediately dismissed, or a pardon granted to a great hero who has done so much for our country… Perhaps there is no one I know who could work in better harmony with the President of the United States, me, than Bibi Netanyahu”.
Trump concluded his post by saying, “The United States saved Israel, and now it will be the one saving Bibi Netanyahu… This travesty of justice cannot be allowed”.
Netanyahu is on trial on corruption charges, and his trial has been postponed several times since it began in May 2020… The prime minister’s lawyers requested postponements due to the war in Gaza and later due to the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
In one case, Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, face charges of accepting luxury gifts, such as cigars, jewelry, and champagne, worth more than $260,000, from wealthy individuals in exchange for political favors.
Netanyahu is also being investigated in two other cases, accusing him of seeking more positive media coverage in two Israeli media outlets.
The Israeli Prime Minister denies any wrongdoing during his trial, which he describes as politicized.
