Israeli officials have ruled out the possibility that Syrian transitional President Ahmed al Sharaa would agree to a peace agreement without an Israeli withdrawal from the Golan Heights.

According to officials, the United States is also aware of the issue, and is participating in the talks.

According to Minister Ron Dermer, a close associate of Netanyahu and President Donald Trump’s administration, arrives in Washington, Monday.

This issue, and the expansion of the Abraham Accords in general, is expected to be raised in his discussions with him.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump stated that additional countries had contacted him recently and asked to join the Abraham Accords.

He added in the interview, “We’ve great countries in the Abraham Accords, and I think we’ll start having more join”.

Discussion of a possible agreement between Israel and Syria has continued in recent days, not only in Israel and the United States, but also topped the agenda of Arab media.

Sources in Damascus close to the Syrian government told the newspaper that indirect negotiations between the two sides—under regional and international sponsorship—have already been approved by Sharaa.

According to these sources, “Syria is demanding an end to Israeli attacks and incursions into its territory and a return to the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement… Israel, on the other hand, is seeking to establish a new buffer zone, and a security agreement is likely to be reached that would pave the way for a comprehensive peace agreement in the future”.

The sources ruled out the possibility of reaching a permanent agreement at this time, but didn’t rule out the possibility of reaching an agreement that would pave the way for a permanent agreement, known as the Abraham Accords.

According to them, this process is developing rapidly, and Damascus is counting on Arab mediation to preserve its sovereignty.

It’s also allegedly hoping that the United States and other Western countries will pressure Israel to “halt the attacks”.

The Syrian president strongly desires to reach an agreement with Israel, but stipulates a rapid Israeli withdrawal from points inside Syrian territory.
