The Yemeni Ansar Allah group declares responsibility for targeting a US ship in the Gulf of Aden and threatens all American and British ships
The Yemeni Ansar Allah group announced on Monday that it had targeted a US ship in the Gulf of Aden with naval missiles.
This came in a statement issued by the military spokesman for the Houthi forces, Yahya Saree, published on X.
The statement said, “The naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces (Houthis) carried out a military operation targeting a US ship in the Gulf of Aden, with a number of appropriate naval missiles, and the hit was accurate and direct”.
He added, “The operation comes as a victory for the oppression of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, who until this moment have been subjected to the worst types of massacres by the Zionist entity, and as part of a response to the American-British aggression against our country”.
He continued, “All American and British ships and warships participating in the aggression against Yemen are considered hostile targets within the target bank of our forces”.
He explained that a response to the American and British attacks will inevitably come, and that any new attack won’t remain without response and punishment.
He added, “Our forces will continue to carry out their military operations and impose the decision to prevent Israeli navigation in the Arab and Red Seas until the aggression stops and the siege on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip is lifted”.
Earlier Monday, the US Central Command (Centcom) announced in a statement that a US-owned container ship was hit by a missile launched by the Houthis off the coast of Yemen, without causing human casualties or major damage.
Tensions in the Red Sea have entered a remarkable escalation phase since the Houthis, on the evening of January 9, directly targeted a US ship, after they were targeting, within the framework of solidarity with the Gaza Strip, cargo ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel.
On Friday, the White House announced, in a joint statement from 10 countries, that in response to the Houthi attacks against commercial ships in the Red Sea, the American and British armed forces carried out joint attacks against targets in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen.
