The Turkish Army withdraws an entire brigade from Syria
The Turkish forces withdrew an entire brigade consisting of vehicles, soldiers and armored vehicles from the de-escalation zone in Syria, towards the Turkish border lands.
According to the Syrian Observatory, the Turkish forces withdrew the entire Eighth Brigade from its forces within the de-escalation zone.
Last Saturday, a Turkish military convoy consisting of about 40 armored personnel carriers with their personnel and heavy armored vehicles left towards Türkiye, without knowing the reason for the redeployment.
There are 9 Turkish brigades in the de-escalation areas, each brigade has 1,500 members with their full equipment, tanks and heavy vehicles.
Türkiye had successively carried out several withdrawals from the de-escalation zones in Syria about a month ago, the last of which was the withdrawal of a military convoy from Idlib towards Turkish territory on October 26, consisting of 10 tanks, in addition to more than 20 armored personnel carriers loaded with personnel.
It’s noteworthy that the de-escalation zones in Syria were agreed upon during the Astana Talks, which began in 2017 and included the guarantor countries Russia, Türkiye and Iran.
Türkiye’s move coincides with reducing the number of its forces in Syria, at a time when Ankara is courting Damascus in order to restore water to its normal course after a break that lasted more than 10 years, noting that Syria is calling on Türkiye to withdraw its forces from Syrian territory, as a prerequisite for restoring bilateral relations.
