The Israeli army announced the withdrawal of some of its forces from the Gaza Strip and directs them to the West Bank
The Israeli army withdrew more of its forces from Gaza and directed them to the occupied West Bank.
The sources stated that the Israeli army, despite the continuing battles in the city of Khan Yunis, south of Gaza, is withdrawing more forces from the Strip, whether from reserve forces or regular forces.
On Friday, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy revealed that the army is withdrawing more reserve soldiers, knowing that they will be called up again soon.
On Thursday, the Wall Street Journal said that Israel withdrew thousands of its soldiers from Gaza after pressure from the United States, to move to a less intense and more precise phase in its war against Hamas.
Israeli forces continue to carry out operations in the West Bank, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed his rejection of any “Palestinian sovereignty” in the post-war period.
Over the past few days, Israel has carried out arrest campaigns, after storming a number of towns and homes in the West Bank.
The Israeli army also announced, on Monday, that soldiers of the Kfir Brigade left Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, yesterday evening, to increase readiness, and were replaced by other forces.
The Israeli army said in a statement, “The soldiers in the group affiliated with the Kfir Brigade left the Gaza Strip yesterday evening, for several days of recovery and increased readiness, and they were replaced by other forces in Khan Yunis, after which the brigade will continue to carry out operational activities according to the assessment of the situation”.
The Israeli army didn’t clarify in its statement the nature of the alternative forces and which brigade they belong to.
The Kfir Brigade, also known as Brigade No. 900, was historically stationed in the West Bank.
It was formed from 6 infantry battalions in the early 1990s to support the armored forces present in the West Bank.
Since its establishment, the brigade, which specializes in urban combat, has been known for its oppressive practices and acts of abuse against the Palestinian population.
The Israeli army noted in its statement that over recent weeks, the Kfir brigade unites has been active in the Khan Yunis area.
The forces were active in the Bani Suhaila neighborhood and found many weapons, weapons, explosive devices, hand grenades, ammunition clips and rocket-propelled grenades.
The Kfir Brigade began its activity with the launch of the ground maneuver in the northern area of the Strip in the Shuja’iya neighborhood, and then in its southern part in Khan Yunis.
On Monday, the Israeli army announced the killing of 3 of its officers in battles in the southern Gaza Strip, bringing its total number of deaths to 535 since the start of the war on October 7.
The Israeli army also announced, on Monday, that 19 soldiers were injured in ground battles in the Gaza Strip during the past 24 hours.
Based on army data published on its official website, Monday, the toll of soldiers wounded during the ground battles that began last October 27 reached 1,222.
In this context, Israeli army data showed that the number of soldiers and officers wounded since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, reached 2,672.
It indicated that 405 were seriously injured, 695 were moderately injured, and 1,572 were slightly injured.
As of Monday, the number of Israeli army deaths since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023 had reached 532, including 195 since the beginning of the ground war in the Gaza Strip.
