The Israeli army: 3 complex options are on Netanyahu’s table regarding the war on Gaza
An Israeli report stated that the Israeli army will present Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet with three options for continuing the war in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli channel “i24NEWS” said that following reports of the collapse of the Gaza talks, the army will present these three options:
- The final deal includes a complete cessation of fighting, if an agreement is reached.
- Encircling Gaza City and the main camps, applying pressure from outside, attrition from the air, and exerting influence to pressure Hamas.
- Occupying the Gaza Strip – a large-scale move that includes entering Gaza and the main military bases… This means a real threat to the lives of the hostages, and this poses a difficult moral dilemma for the Israeli cabinet.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump appeared to abandon negotiations on a ceasefire in Gaza with Hamas on Friday, saying it was clear the Palestinian movement did not want to reach an agreement.
Netanyahu said that Israel is now considering alternative options to achieve its goals from the war, which are to return the hostages from the Gaza Strip and end Hamas’s rule in the Strip.
Hunger is rampant in the Gaza Strip, while most of the population lives in displacement camps amid widespread destruction.
Trump said he believed Hamas leaders would now be “hunted down,” telling reporters at the White House, “Hamas didn’t want to make a deal… I think they want to die, and that’s a very bad thing… It’s gotten to a point where the job has to be done”.
The statements appeared to close the door, at least in the near term, to resuming ceasefire negotiations, at a time when international concerns are growing about worsening hunger in the Gaza Strip, which is suffering the ravages of war.
