Israeli officers admit to destroying food and medical aid after they to reach the Gaza Strip
Israeli officers have admitted to destroying food, water, and medical supplies distributed on more than 1,000 aid trucks that were left to rot at the Kerem Shalom crossing after their distribution in the Gaza Strip was prevented.
The Israeli public broadcaster Kan reported Friday evening that the trucks were carrying tens of thousands of parcels of humanitarian aid, which had been left undistributed for weeks in the sun at the Kerem Shalom crossing, until they spoiled.
An Israeli officer told Kan, “We buried everything in the ground, and burned some of the materials,” without specifying the exact timing of the incident.
He added, “Even today, there are thousands of parcels waiting in the sun, and if they are not brought into Gaza, we will have to destroy them as well”.
An Israeli army sources told Kan that only 100 to 150 trucks are allowed to enter the Palestinian crossing daily, and most of them are not unloaded due to the breakdown of the distribution mechanism.
The Israeli channel quoted another Israeli officer as saying, “The mechanism isn’t working, the trucks are stopped, the roads are unusable, and coordination isn’t taking place”.
He added, “We’ve the largest grain store in the world here, and if the existing goods aren’t removed, we will destroy and bury them”.
