The al Qassam Brigades released footage of a sophisticated ambush targeting Israeli soldiers and vehicles in the southern Gaza Strip
The al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced on Thursday that it had carried out a complex ambush that resulted in the death and injury of a number of Israeli soldiers.
The attack was carried out after explosive devices were detonated targeting a foot patrol east of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
The al Qassam Brigades said the operation was part of a series of operations dubbed “Gates of Hell,” in response to Israeli crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip that have been ongoing for 19 months.
The videos showed scenes from the moment the ambush was carried out, including the firing of shells at a house where an Israeli force had taken cover, followed by the detonation of explosive devices after the soldiers were lured to the site of the attack.
According to the al Qassam Brigades, the operation was carried out last Wednesday.
It explained that its fighters targeted the ground floor of the house with a number of anti-fortification and anti-tank missiles, before engaging the Israeli force with appropriate weapons.
The al Qassam Brigades added that its fighters retreated to the tunnel’s eye, “and lured the occupation soldiers to a point where they had set up explosive devices… As soon as the soldiers arrived at the ambush, the devices were detonated, killing and wounding them”.
They confirmed that its fighters had spotted Israeli helicopters landing to evacuate the wounded from the site of the operation.
Contrary to the announced figures, the Israeli army is accused of concealing the true number of its casualties, particularly given the numerous announcements by Palestinian factions that they carried out operations and ambushes against its personnel, which they claim resulted in deaths and injuries.
According to numerous international reports, Israel imposes strict military censorship on its media regarding human and material losses resulting from attacks by Palestinian factions.
This is for a variety of reasons, including maintaining Israeli morale.
