Israel and Türkiye will resume talks in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, on Thursday, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported, with the mediation of the Azerbaijani government.

The report stated that Israel will present Ankara with three main demands regarding the situation in Syria during these talks.

According to the report, the most prominent demands Israel will present include ensuring that no military force threatens its security near the border with Syria, ensuring that Syrian territory is free of strategic weapons, and preventing Syria from posing a direct threat to Israel.

This round of talks is the third between Türkiye and Israel on issues related to Syria, with Azerbaijan, which maintains good relations with Israel, continuing to play the role of mediator between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Syrian Vice President Ahmed al Sharaa announced from Paris that his country is conducting indirect talks with Israel aimed at de-escalating tensions in the region.

Israel launched an airstrike last week, targeting a site near the presidential palace in Damascus.

It also carried out more than 20 raids on military centers and warehouses across Syria early Saturday morning, an attack described by Agence France-Presse as “the most violent since the beginning of the year”.

In this context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz stated in a joint statement that the attacks were a “clear message to the Syrian regime” that Israel wouldn’t allow Syrian forces to deploy south of Damascus or to threaten the Druze community in any way.
