Syria moves armed forces to a strategic area in the Golan Heights sparked an Israel anger
Sources in the Israeli army’s Northern Command claimed on Tuesday that Syria is moving troops and weapons to a strategic area in the Golan Heights, contrary to understandings with it.
Citing these sources, the Israeli Wala website said: “Forces affiliated with (Syrian President Ahmed al Sharaa) are transporting weapons and soldiers to the hilly area of the Syrian Golan Heights”.
It considered that this step completely contradicts the agreements concluded with Israel and represents a flagrant violation of security understandings in the sensitive area near Israel’s northern border.
According to Wala website, the Israeli army is monitoring the progress of Syrian military forces and equipment in the area, in which it has been agreed to impose significant movement restrictions on the Syrian side.
Wala website added that Israel has conveyed messages to Sharaa thatit won’t allow Syrian forces to exploit the war against Iran and Hezbollah to harm the Druze in southern Syria.
The Syrian authorities insist on providing equal rights to all groups of the Syrian people, and that Israel is using the Druze as a pretext to interfere in Syria’s internal affairs.
The military sources said that the hilly area in the Golan Heights constitutes a decisive strategic axis that allows for surveillance and fire control over large areas in northern Israel”.
“The understandings between the two countries, which aim to prevent direct military friction, set strict limits on the size of troops and the type of weapons allowed in the area near the border,” he said.
These allegations come amid near-daily Israeli violations of Syria’s sovereignty, particularly through artillery shelling and ground incursions that witness the arrest of Syrians.
