Qatar announced on Tuesday evening the arrest of what it said were two cells working for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that the State Security Agency was able to arrest two cells working for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in Qatar.

It added that the monitoring and follow-up operations resulted in the arrest of ten suspects, seven of whom were assigned to spy missions to gather information about vital and military installations in the country.

The agency continued: “Three others were assigned to carry out acts of sabotage and received training in the use of drones, and they were also found in possession of the locations and coordinates of sensitive facilities, means of communication and technical devices”.

“During the investigations, the defendants confessed to their association with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and assigned them to espionage and sabotage tasks,” it added.

The Qatari Defense Ministry announced that an Iranian ballistic missile hit the US base used by US forces on Tuesday, while Tehran struck targets in the Gulf in response to the US-Israeli attack against it.

The Qatari Defense Ministry said that the country was targeted by two missiles, explaining that air defense systems were able to counter one of them, while the second missile targeted Qatar’s al Udeid base without causing any casualties.
