Bloomberg revealed on Thursday, citing informed sources, that the US administration is preparing for the possibility of launching a military strike against Iran in the coming days, amid escalating tensions between the two sides.

The sources explained that the situation remains unstable and could change at any moment, but plans are being drawn up for a potential attack early next week.

According to the same sources, senior leaders in a number of US federal agencies have already begun taking preparatory steps for a potential attack, reflecting the seriousness of deliberations within the decision-making halls in Washington.

In a related development, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that former US President Donald Trump informed his senior advisors of his approval of military plans targeting Iran, but has not yet given the green light for implementation, indicating that he is waiting to see if Tehran will back down from its nuclear program.

Multiple media reports indicate that Washington could use a range of advanced and highly destructive weapons in the event of an attack, raising concerns about escalation in the region.

Meanwhile, ABC News reported that Trump is considering targeting Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility, one of the most sensitive sites in Iran’s nuclear program.

In remarks made on Wednesday, Trump hinted that the current Iranian regime may not last long, stressing that he has not yet made a final decision regarding a strike on Iran, but he hasn’t closed the door to dialogue with it.

“There is still a chance to reach an agreement,” the former US president said, adding, “My supporters do not want Iran to possess a nuclear weapon, and that is what we are working to prevent”.
