The commander of the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi, made statements on Sunday about the recent developments on the Syrian coast, calling on President Ahmed al Sharaa to take firm measures to hold accountable those responsible for the acts of violence there.

Abdi accused the Turkish-backed factions of being the main party responsible for the ongoing killings.

He stressed in written statements that President Sharaa must intervene to stop the massacres, noting that the Turkish-backed factions and extremist groups bear primary responsibility.

On Saturday, the Syrian authorities announced the reinforcement of the security forces’ deployment in the Syrian coastal region in the west of the country, to regain control over the areas that have witnessed violent confrontations since the fall of Assad’s regime last December.
