Israel admits failure to identify where Israeli hostages are being held in Gaza

The Israeli security and military institutions admitted that after interrogating the Israeli prisoners who were in the Gaza Strip and were released as part of the prisoner exchange deal in its first phase, it became clear that they didn’t have accurate estimates regarding the location of the prisoners.
They added that it was found that some of the prisoners who were being held in the Gaza Strip were being held in locations that weren’t properly estimated.
In this context, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority indicated that this means that previous concerns about the prisoners being at risk were justified.
Last September, the Israeli Channel 11 revealed that the Israeli army presented at the political level a dilemma regarding continuing military operations in additional areas inside the Gaza Strip with the increasing danger to the prisoners in the Strip.
This came, according to the channel, following the incident of killing 6 hostages inside a tunnel in August 2024, while the Israeli army was carrying out military operations near the area.
It’s worth noting that due to the occupation’s weak intelligence regarding the locations of prisoners in Gaza, many of them were killed in the army’s aggression on the Strip, which strengthened internal divisions in Israel and increased demands from the families for the necessity of concluding an exchange deal.
