Iran to host joint naval drills with Russia and China

The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday that the Russian, Chinese and Iranian naval forces are conducting joint maneuvers under the name “Maritime Security Belt 2025” in the Iranian port of Chabahar.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry’s statement, a group of ships from the Pacific Fleet, the frigate “Rizkiy”, the frigate “Aldar Tsydenjabov” and the medium-sized tanker “Pechinga”, are participating in the maneuvers from the Russian side.

During the drills, the participating ships will train over several days in the northern Indian Ocean on missions to free hijacked ships, conduct search and rescue operations at sea, and fire artillery at sea and air targets.

About 15 warships, support ships, combat boats, and helicopters are participating in the joint maneuvers.

The international naval maneuvers “Maritime Security Belt 2025” are being held for the seventh time and are being organized by the Iranian side.

These drills were held for the first time in the Sea of ​​Oman in 2018.
