Syria: Clashes reaches Damascus as Assad remnants attack security forces check points

Clashes between security forces and remnants of the former regime escalated in the early hours of Monday morning, extending to the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus, where a security checkpoint was targeted with grenades.
According to Syrian media, a powerful explosion rocked the Mezzeh 86 area, followed by heavy gunfire between General Security forces and remnants of the former regime.
According to sources in the Syrian Capital, Damascus, as security checkpoint in the Mezzeh neighborhood was attacked by unknown individuals, without causing any casualties.
Videos have been circulating on social media showing the moments of the attack, with Syrian security personnel seen rushing towards a car at the checkpoint, while heavy gunfire is heard in other videos.
It was confirmed that a car belonging to the remnants of the Assad regime had thrown a bomb at the General Security forces on the Mezzeh Highway, which led to their pursuit.
This attack came hours after statements by Syrian transitional President Ahmed al Sharaa, who vowed to hold accountable those involved in the bloody events that have been taking place in the Syrian coastal region for days, as clashes continue between the security forces and remnants of the ousted regime.
