Russian attack on the Ukrainian city of Lviv causes fires and casualties
Explosions rocked the city of Lviv in western Ukraine in the early hours of Tuesday morning, as two officials in the region said that the Russian attack injured a man and caused a major fire in an industrial warehouse.
Maxim Kozitsky, governor of the Lviv region, said on Telegram, “A woman and a man were found under the rubble in Lviv… Preliminary information indicates that the woman was not injured…. The man is in serious condition”.
Since the start of the war in February 2022, Russia has carried out countless attacks on Ukrainian territory far from the front lines with the aim of destroying Kiev’s vital defense, energy and agricultural infrastructure.
In addition, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Telegram that the air defense systems destroyed one Iskander ballistic missile and 27 out of a total of 30 drones launched by Russia on Ukrainian territory in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The Ukrainian Air Force statement added that Iranian-made Shahid drones were destroyed in the regions of southern, central and western Ukraine, while the missile was launched in the direction of Kryvyi Rih in center of Ukraine.
or his part, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed on Tuesday in Germany that Ukraine will soon receive Abrams tanks from the United States.
“I am pleased to announce that the M1 Abrams tanks that the United States pledged to provide will enter Ukraine soon,” Austin said at the opening of the meeting of the Contact Group on Defense in Ukraine.
Washington promised Kiev these tanks at the beginning of this year as part of $43 billion in aid that the United States has pledged to provide since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
