Russia hosted the first Africa-Russia business forum
Last week, Russia hosted the first international business forum between Russia and Africa, under the slogan: “Made in Africa”, and the number of participants exceeded 500 figures, from Russia and 20 African countries.
The first forum of its kind discussed prospects for cooperation between Russia and Africa, reviewed mutual investment opportunities, and identified the main areas for developing trade relations between Russia and African countries.
The forum was organized in cooperation between the Russia-Africa Club, Moscow State University, Patrice Lumumba People’s Friendship University of Russia, the African Business Club, and the Russian Peace Foundation.
The forum began with a plenary session moderated by the Chairman of the Committee for Working with the African Diaspora at the Russia-Africa Club of Moscow State University, Louise Goind, and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the Peoples’ Friendship University, Inna Vitalievna Andronova.
The session also included the Head of the Department of African Issues and Regional Organizations at the Department of African Affairs of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmitry Ilyich Suchkov.
A number of Russian and African officials also spoke during the forum sessions.
On the sidelines of the forum, a trade and cultural exhibition was opened, in which more than ten countries participated, and during which agricultural products, cosmetics, handicrafts and tourism tools were displayed.
The forum also witnessed the signing of several contracts to supply products from Russia to Africa and vice versa.
