Israel decides to take legal action against Macron
Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz said that he ordered his ministry to initiate legal proceedings against French President Emmanuel Macron for preventing Israeli companies from participating in a naval military trade fair that will be held soon in France.
Euronaval, the organizer of the show, which is scheduled to take place in Paris from November 4 to 7, said in a statement that the French government had informed it that Israeli delegations were not allowed to set up stands or display equipment at the show, but that they could attend.
It added that seven companies would be affected by the decision.
“The Foreign Ministry has directed legal and diplomatic action against the French president for his decision to prevent Israeli companies from exhibiting their products at the Euronaval trade fair in Paris next month,” Katz said in a statement on X.
“Boycotting Israeli companies for a second time or imposing unacceptable conditions are undemocratic and unacceptable measures between two friendly countries… I urge President Macron to completely cancel them,” he added.
The decision to ban Israeli companies is the latest incident in a dispute fueled by Macron’s government’s concern over Israel’s actions in the Gaza and Lebanon wars.
