Ynet: New details about Yahya Sinwar’s death… his body is preserved in a secret place for later bargaining
Israeli Ynet website said that the autopsy of Yahya Sinwar’s body was completed at the Abu Kabir Institute of Forensic Medicine, and the body was transferred to a secret location.
Ynet reported that the autopsy results showed that Sinwar was shot in the head and killed by a bullet fired at him from a long distance.
The autopsy results showed that Sinwar was also injured by a shell, and shrapnel was found in his body.
Sinwar’s body could be used as a bargaining chip in the future.
The body of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was transferred to a secret location, after the autopsy was completed at the Abu Kabir Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv.
The Israeli website said, “After the autopsy on Thursday/Friday night at the Abu Kabir Institute in Tel Aviv, Sinwar’s body was transferred to a secret location, and it’s not yet clear whether it will be used as a bargaining chip in future negotiations to reach a deal that includes the return of the 101 Israelis kidnapped in the Gaza Strip”.
“The autopsy showed that Sinwar was shot in the head, and traces of gunshot wounds, including shell fragments, were found on his body,” Ynet added.
“His body weight was normal… The results of a toxicology test that will determine, among other things, whether he was under the influence of drugs or psychoactive substances have not yet been obtained”.
It’s worth noting that the Israeli army announced that Sinwar was assassinated by members of a routine patrol on Wednesday.
He added that soldiers from the 828th Beslach Brigade were moving through the city of Rafah when they encountered three Palestinian gunmen.
He continued that while the soldiers chased them, Sinwar separated from the other two.
Israeli forces later fired from a tank at the building where two militants were hiding and at another building where Sinwar was hiding.
Israeli media and military officials said there was no prior intelligence indicating Sinwar’s presence in the area.
The Israeli military released a video taken moments before Sinwar’s assassination, showing the Hamas leader sitting on a sofa in a destroyed living room on the first floor of a partially destroyed building.
He had a serious injury to one hand and covered his face with a keffiyeh.
The blurry footage showed Sinwar throwing a stick at an approaching drone during his final moments.
The Israeli military conducted a DNA test, along with dental examinations and other forensic investigations, which helped confirm Sinwar’s identity.
Sinwar hasn’t appeared in public since the war broke out following Hamas’s unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which he was the mastermind of the attack.
