Putin: Kiev may be exposed to fatal danger

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that the Ukrainian counterattack on Russian forces in Ukraine had not only failed, but that the Russian army had full control there.

Speaking during a meeting with heads of local councils, he warned that the Ukrainian state could be exposed to extremely serious and irreparable damage.

Vladimir Putin described calls for peace talks with Ukraine as an attempt to force Russia to give up the gains it had made.

Putin said, “Everyone understands that this is impossible: the ruling circles in Ukraine and Western elites alike”.

Putin also reiterated that Russia and Ukraine agreed on the main parameters of the peace agreement in March 2022 in Istanbul, and referred to the comments of the head of the Ukrainian delegation at the time in the talks, David Arakhamiya, who said that Kiev raised the level of the agreement based on advice at the time, from the former British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, when he informed the Ukrainians that the agreement wouldn’t be implemented.

Putin added, “Aren’t they fools? To put it bluntly, if they had done that, it would have been over a long time ago”.

Putin commented on Ukraine’s refusal to conclude the peace agreement as showing its lack of independence.
