Macron sends a message to Netanyahu: The Gaza war is humiliating Israel and putting you in a dead end
French President Emmanuel Macron said that Israel’s plan to occupy the entire Gaza Strip will never bring victory to Israel.
This came in a letter responding to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who accused Macron of “inciting anti-Semitism”.
According to the French Le Monde newspaper, who published Macron’s letter, stating that he received Netanyahu’s message on August 17.
Macron explained that Netanyahu had disclosed the letter to the public before receiving it himself, and therefore his response would also be made public first to ensure transparency in the discussion.
Addressing Netanyahu, he added, “That’s why I wanted to notify you personally, and I look forward to reading it… This is the simplest rule of etiquette”.
He continued: “The fight against anti-Semitism cannot be politicized or exploited to fuel a dispute between Israel and France”.
The French president stressed that protecting Jewish citizens has been a priority for him since the first day he took office.
He stated that Israel’s attacks on Gaza negatively impact France’s national unity and the security of its citizens, pointing to steps he has taken to combat anti-Semitism.
Macron rejected Netanyahu’s accusation that he was inactive in combating anti-Semitism, which he described as a lack of respect for France as a whole.
He explained that the International Alliance to Remembrance of Antisemitism’s definition does not exonerate Israel from its current policies in Gaza and the rest of the Palestinian territories.
He stated that “lasting peace will only be achieved through the establishment of a demilitarized Palestinian state that recognizes Israel and its right to live in security”.
He stressed that nothing justifies the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, adding that the establishment of a Palestinian state must be the end of Hamas.
Macron warned that famine and violence could cause a mass exodus from Gaza, which would have repercussions for regional and international security.
He stressed that the international community must stop Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
He added that Israel’s occupation of the Gaza Strip, its forced displacement of Palestinians, its starvation, its dehumanization through hate speech, and its annexation of the West Bank will never bring Israel any victory and will only increase its isolation.
Days ago, the Israeli government approved military plans to occupy the remaining Gaza Strip.
These plans will begin with Gaza City, where the population of approximately one million will be displaced.
They will then be encircled and incursions will be carried out into neighborhoods, followed by a push into the refugee camps in the center of the Strip.
