Lavrov: Our trade exchange with Africa increased by 30%

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the volume of Russian-African trade during the last year 2023 amounted to about $25 billion, recording an increase of 30%.

This came during Lavrov speech during a ceremony marking Africa Day.

Lavrov expressed his gratitude to the representatives of African countries for what he described as their responsible position on the Ukrainian conflict against the backdrop of Western attempts to draw Africa into the anti-Russian campaign.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stressed that Moscow attaches particular importance to strengthening friendly relations with African partners and their united desire to build a multipolar world order.

According to a statement issued by the Kremlin, Putin added that Russia attaches particular importance to strengthening friendly relations with African partners.

Addressing Africans, Putin added, “We’re united by the desire to build a multipolar world order based on true equality and the rule of international law, free from any form of discrimination, dictatorship and sanctions pressure”.

In his statement, the Russian president considered that the second Russia-Africa summit, which was held in July 2023 in St. Petersburg, created favorable conditions for increased fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation in different directions.

Putin expressed confidence that the consistent implementation of the plans and agreements reached in accordance with the results of this important multilateral meeting responds to common concerns and is in line with ensuring stability and security on the African continent.
