Russia officially announce ISIS-K responsibility on Moscow attack
Russia acknowledged for the first time on Friday that ISIS was responsible for the March 22 attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall near Moscow that killed at least 144 people.
The director of the Russian Federal Security Service, Alexander Bornikov, confirmed that the investigations showed that the preparations, financing, execution and escape after the attack were coordinated online by members of the ISIS-Khorasan.
The ISIS-Khorasan claimed responsibility for the attack, saying in a Telegram statement that its fighters targeted a large gathering on the outskirts of Moscow.
On Friday, the TASS news agency quoted Russia’s Federal Security Service as saying that Ukrainian military intelligence was directly linked to the attack on the concert hall.
In April, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Western countries “instructed the media not to mention the number of victims of the terrorist attack in Crocus and not to mention the killing of children or the reaction of citizens to the tragedy,” according to a statement posted on Telegram.
The Russian Foreign Ministry explained that the aim of this directive is to distract the attention of the international community from the organizers and real beneficiaries of the incident.
