Israeli media reports signs of tension between the US military and Israel over the attack on oil facilities in Iran
The Israeli media reported that there are tensions between the US military and Israel against the background of the latter’s attack on oil facilities in Iran.
A senior US security official said, “The Israelis informed us in advance of the attacks on the oil facilities, but they didn’t mention that they would be of this magnitude”.
“We don’t think it was a wise move,” the US security official added.
On Saturday evening, Israel carried out its threats to target Iran’s infrastructure, with the Israeli air force bombing fuel tanks and oil facilities in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Israeli sources said that they had begun striking oil storage sites in Iran as part of the next phase of the war.
The Israeli military announced for the first time since the start of the attack on Iran at the end of February that it had bombed fuel distribution sites in Tehran that distribute fuel to consumers, including military entities in Iran.
The Israeli army spokesperson said in a statement posted on X, on Saturday night, that Air Force attacked several fuel tanks in Tehran.
“This is an important strike that constitutes another step in deepening the damage to the Iranian regime’s military infrastructure,” the Israeli military said in a statement.
“The Iranian military forces directly and repeatedly use these tanks to operate military infrastructures, through which fuel is transported to various parties, including military entities inside Iran,” the statement said.
Photos and videos showed flames and smoke rising in the skies over the capital Tehran, and flames were also documented spreading in the streets near the oil tanks after fuel spilled onto the adjacent side roads.
