Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy said on Tuesday that the army failed to prevent the attacks of last October 7 in the Gaza Strip.

He added in a written statement, “Over recent days, a dialogue has been taking place regarding the behavior of the army and the Military Intelligence Authority regarding the period before the events of October 7, and given the horrific results, this is self-evident.

“We’ll be held accountable and we will listen to every one of our soldiers in order to benefit from his ideas and reports,” he added.

Halevy continued, “The Israeli army, including the Military Intelligence Authority, failed to prevent the events of October 7, and insightful and in-depth investigations will be conducted, but now we must focus on the fighting”.

Halevy previously announced last month that the army was responsible for failing to prevent a Hamas attack on Israeli towns and military bases in the Gaza Strip on October 7.
