Israeli Chief of Staff ordered Chinese-made cars to be withdrawn from Israeli army officers
On Sunday the Israeli army has begun withdrawing Chinese-made cars from its officers, based on orders from Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.
This decision was made after the security services concluded that there was real concern about the leakage of sensitive information or espionage through vehicle systems.
This is another step in a policy that restricts the use of Chinese vehicles, after their entry into military bases was previously prohibited.
In detail, this step will be taken gradually, as in the first stage the vehicles will be collected from officers in secret positions or those exposed to sensitive security information.
The second phase will include all officers, and the campaign is expected to end by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
The Israeli army estimates that the operation will involve about 700 vehicles, mostly CHERY brand models that were given to officers with large families because they are 7-seater cars”.
Security sources explained that some Chinese vehicles are equipped with systems that include cameras, microphones, sensors, and communication technologies that transmit information to external servers, sometimes without the control of the user or the local importer.
Reports stated that the Israeli decision was also influenced by the stance of other countries, such as the United States and Britain, which have banned the use of Chinese vehicles in sensitive security areas.
