Iraq bans 3 parties have connections and links to the PKK
The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council announced the ban on the activities of 3 parties proven to be linked to the PKK.
The so-called Yazidi Freedom and Democracy parties, the Democratic Struggle Front and the Kurdistan Community Freedom/Azadi Thinker were banned and their property confiscated.
The ban came on the complaint of the Iraqi National Security Advisory, and after the intelligence and the country’s Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the link of the so-called parties mentioned to the PKK.
On July 23, the Iraqi government issued instructions to adopt the PKK as a banned organization in official correspondence.
PKK is based in the Qandil Mountains north of Iraq, and is active in many cities, regions and valleys, launching attacks on the Turkish interior.
