Iranian News Agency: Iran is working on establishing a regional resistance treaty
The Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee is preparing a new bill to conclude a resistance pact with a number of countries and liberation movements in the Middle East, according to the Iranian Tasnim News Agency.
The proposed treaty provides for mutual military, political, and economic support between the parties in the event that any of them is attacked by the United States or Israel.
It also includes establishing an operations headquarters to coordinate joint military activities and carry out military exercises, with the Iranian Supreme National Security Council being tasked with distributing tasks and implementing the plan.
According to the bill, Iran will consider applications to join the “Resistance Pact,” which aims to enhance cooperation between countries and liberation movements in the face of external threats, with an emphasis on confronting Israel and Western countries.
The bill is expected to be submitted to the Iranian parliament soon after its completion.
This report comes one year after Hamas’s October 7 attack, which was met with a massive Israeli military response in Gaza, killing and wounding thousands of Palestinians.
It also coincides with an escalation in Israeli attacks against Hezbollah, Iran’s closest ally in the region.
In this context, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei warned in his Friday sermon last week that the enemy of the Iranian people is the same enemy of the Arab and Islamic peoples.
He stressed the importance of unity among Islamic countries in defending their sovereignty and independence, emphasizing the need to confront the common enemy and not allow it to target Islamic countries one by one.
