Former US Secretary of State and democrats’ presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Friday criticized US President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw US troops from Syria.

“Actions have consequences and whether we’re in Syria or not, the people who want to harm us are there and at war”, Clinton said in a tweeted.

“Isolation is weakness, empowering ISIS is dangerous, playing into Russia and Iran’s hands is foolish, this president puts our national security at grave risk”, Clinton said.

For his part, the US President, Donald Trump responded to Clinton’s tweet, via his twitter saying “I’ve done more damage to ISIS more than all recent presidents… not even close!”.

Trump who announced last Wednesday that his country has defeated the terrorist organization “ISIS” in Syria, and that was the reason for the presence of troops there.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Washington had begun withdrawing troops from Syria and that US forces were preparing for the next phase of fighting the terrorist group”.

“We have begun to bring US troops home and we’re moving on to the next phase of this campaign”.
