Hamas: Israel’s storming of the Red Crescent building and al Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis is a war crime
The Hamas movement said on Tuesday evening that the Israeli army’s storming of the Palestine Red Crescent Society building and al Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, amid intense gunfire, was a “war crime”.
This came in a statement by Hamas movement via Telegram after the Red Crescent announced that the Israeli army stormed the association’s building in Khan Yunis and evacuated it at gunpoint.
Hamas said, “We warn that the Zionist occupation army will commit a new massacre after it stormed the courtyard of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society building and al Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis, amid heavy shooting at those present in the hospital, including medical staff, the wounded, and the displaced”.
Hama stressed that, “this constitutes a war crime that is added to the long series of massacres and violations committed by the occupation during the ongoing war of extermination against our people in the Gaza Strip”.
Hamas explained that “the Zionist enemy’s repeated targeting of hospitals in the Gaza Strip is a further implementation of the crime of genocide against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in addition to being a disdain for the international community, the United Nations, international laws, and the decisions of the International Court of Justice”.
Hamas called for “standing firmly to prevent the Zionist enemy from continuing its horrific crimes and atrocities against children and defenseless civilians”.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced, on Tuesday evening, that tents for the displaced had caught fire within the walls of its headquarters in the vicinity of al Amal Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, following the Israeli army’s storming of both the society’s headquarters and the hospital.
The association warned that “the situation is becoming more dangerous,” expressing its “deep concern” for the safety of its crews, the wounded and sick, and thousands of displaced people in the building.
For a week, the Israeli army continued to besiege al Amal Hospital and Nasser Medical Complex, west of the city of Khan Yunis, while on Monday, it demanded that residents of the areas surrounding the two hospitals immediately evacuate to the al Mawasi area, west of the city of Rafah.
