US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he had signed an order establishing the “Golden Dome” anti-missile system to protect the United States from attacks.

Trump was speaking from the US Al Udeid military base in Qatar during his Gulf visit, which also included Saudi Arabia before heading to the UAE.

Addressing the soldiers, the US President announced that he would allocate the military budget to the largest ever, boasting that the United States has the most powerful military in the world.

Trump vowed to deliver a decisive blow to America’s enemies, saying, “My priority is to end conflicts, but I’ll not hesitate to use force to defend our partners”.

Earlier this year, Trump said he intended to sign an executive order to begin building a US air defense system similar to the Iron Dome, which Israel uses to intercept missiles.

“We need to start immediately building the latest Iron Dome missile defense technology,” Trump added during a Republican Party conference in Miami, coinciding with the inauguration of his new Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth.

According to a statement, the Next Generation missile defense shield will protect the United States from ballistic missiles, hypersonic missiles, cruise missiles, and other advanced air attacks.

Although no weapons of this type have been used against the United States in the modern era, the idea is inspired by the defense system that the United States helped Israel create and deploy in the first decade of the 21st century.

During his election campaign, Trump promised to create an impenetrable dome to protect the United States from attacks.

The US Secretary of Defense later spoke about the executive order, saying, “There are more executive orders coming that we fully support,” emphasizing that among them is “America’s Iron Dome”.

According to the US President, the new system will be “made entirely in the United States”.
