All Democratic governors pledged during a meeting with President Joe Biden to support him as he seeks to stay in the presidential race and win a second term after his disastrous performance in the debate against his Republican predecessor Donald Trump, two of them announced.

“We said we would support him,” Maryland Governor Wes Moore told reporters at the White House after the meeting, while Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz said the 81-year-old Biden was qualified to take on the job after his performance in the debate launched calls for him to withdraw from the presidential race.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said Biden was in the race to win it.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, a rising star in the Democratic Party who didn’t come with her colleagues to meet reporters, wrote on X after the meeting, “Joe Biden is our candidate… He’s here to win and I’m supporting him”.

The White House is doing its best to put out the flames fueled by information published by the New York Times and CNN that Biden is questioning the future of his candidacy.

In response to the information, which was reported by the newspaper and the news network, citing unnamed sources, White House spokesman Andrew Bates said it was a mistake to think that there is the slightest thought of ending the campaign.
