Axios reported that the meeting scheduled for, Wednesday, in Paris between Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al Shaibani, and US Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack has been postponed until next week.

According to Axios, the reason for that delay is “more time is needed to complete preparations for the meeting”.

Dermer and Shaibani were scheduled to meet in the French capital on Wednesday, with the goal of “reaching an agreement to deliver aid to the Druze in Sweida”.

Axios website reported that Barrack is expected to meet with Dermer and al Shaibani in an attempt to reach an agreement.

In the same context, Axios reported that the United States is working on an Israeli-Syrian agreement to establish a humanitarian corridor to Sweida.

Axios also reported, citing an US official and two Israeli officials, that the US administration is seeking to reach an agreement to establish a humanitarian corridor between the occupied Palestinian territories and Suwayda, in southern Syria, in order to deliver aid to the Druze.

According to him, an agreement between the transitional government in Syria and the Israeli government on a humanitarian corridor could contribute to repairing relations.

It may also contribute to rebuilding momentum behind US efforts to take further steps toward normalizing relations in the future.

However, the Syrian government expressed its concern to the United States that the Druze would use this corridor (if established) to smuggle weapons.
