After the targeting Kharg island… Iran’s military threatens to turn US-linked oil and economic infrastructure to ashes
Iran’s military on Saturday vowed to turn US-linked oil and energy facilities in the Middle East to ashes in response to Donald Trump’s threat to attack Tehran’s oil infrastructure on the Kharg island.
A spokesman for the Khatam al Anbiya Headquarters, the Central Military Command of Operations, announced, according to Iranian media, “All energy and oil and economic facilities belonging to oil companies in the region partially owned or cooperating with the United States will be destroyed and reduced to ashes”.
He said the announcement was a response to the remarks of the US president, who earlier announced the destruction of military targets on Kharg Island, Iran’s main port of oil exports, and threatened to attack Tehran’s oil infrastructure if it continued to impede freedom of navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The island, about 30 kilometers off the Iranian mainland, handles about 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports, according to a recent memo from JP Morgan.
Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf warned on Thursday that Tehran would relinquish all restraint if the United States and Israel attacked any of its islands in the Gulf.
