A rare virus from the soil of the Gaza Strip kills an Israeli female soldier
An Israeli soldier died in the Gaza Strip due to being infected with a rare virus that she received from the soil of the region, as tests showed that this virus is uncommon and difficult to treat.
Despite doctors’ attempts at treatment, soldier Rebecca Henrietta Johanna Baruch, coming from the Netherlands to Gaza, didn’t respond to treatment and died immediately as a result of resistance to the rare virus.
Rebecca joined military service in the occupation army before she was fatally injured, while the Israeli army recently announced that 21 additional soldiers had been injured in battles in the Gaza Strip, bringing the total number of injured to 2,710 since the beginning of the war on October 7.
The Israeli army explained that the number of officers and soldiers injured since the beginning of the ground attack on October 27 has reached 1,250, with 406 of them receiving treatment, including 40 soldiers in serious condition.
