Turkey reveals new attempts to integrate the SDF with the Syrian army
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu revealed the existence of new attempts by many countries, seeking to integrate the SDF militia with the Syrian army, stressing that Turkey is following all these moves.
In an interview on Tuesday evening, Cavusoglu stated on the program “NEDİR NE DEĞİLDİR”, on the Khabar Türk channel, that there are several countries trying to merge between the SDF militia and the Syrian army”, but he refrained from mentioning the names, and journalist Kamal Levent wrote on his official page in Twitter, “Russia is at the top of these countries”.
The minister added that “the PKK is a threat to us, as it is a threat to the territorial integrity of Syria,” noting that he does not mean the Kurds in Syria, saying, “The Kurds in Syria are different, while the PKK is a terrorist organization, and because of it our Syrian Kurdish brothers cannot return to their lands”.
He referred to the US support for the SDF militia, adding, “The Biden administration wants to separate the PKK and the YPG.
The two cannot be separated”, a country that says it is at the forefront of fighting terrorism, like US, must stop supporting it.
Cavusoglu also pointed out that there is one point of agreement between Turkey and Damascus regarding the SDF militia, which “some countries are trying to unify with the Syrian army”.
He went on to say: Our views on hostility to the separatist forces, only on this issue interfere with Damascus, ”referring to the SDF militia, stressing that it is not possible to agree with the Syrian leadership on any other issues.
When asked whether it is possible to restore relations with Syria like Egypt, he said, “The Syrian people, our brothers and our neighbors, after putting in place a new constitution, electoral laws and real elections in the country, national unity can be achieved, and relations with this new administration can be established in a healthy way, but now there is no a recognition of the legitimacy of the Syrian government by the international community.
