YouGov Poll: 40% of Germans support the recognize the state of Palestine
The Public Opinion Research Institute YouGov said on Thursday that the percentage of those wishing to recognize the state of Palestine among Germans is 40%.
According to a poll conducted by the Institute, 2 in 5 people in Germany support recognition of the state of Palestine, and 27% opposed the recognize the state of Palestine, while 33% said they hadn’t yet decided on the issue.
When asked about the Israeli attacks on Rafah, 51% of respondents said they supported EU economic sanctions against Israel, and 26% said they were totally or partially opposed to such sanctions.
A total of 2,295 people took part in the survey, which was conducted from 31 May to 5 June.
It’s worth noting that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has previously announced that the German government doesn’t currently plan to recognize the state of Palestine.
To this moment only 4 EU countries, Slovenia, Spain, Norway and Ireland had recognized the state of Palestine, bringing the number of countries recognized to 148 out of 193 at the UN General Assembly.
