The United States announced that it doesn’t support a comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, but rather supports only humanitarian breaks with the aim of removing prisoners and delivering aid to the region.

This was stated by John Kirby, coordinator of strategic communications for the National Security Council at the White House, in a press conference held on Monday evening in Washington, DC.

In response to a question about the increase in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, Kirby said, “This is the military plan of the Israeli administration… The US administration supports the Israeli approach in eliminating Hamas, but also urges the need to protect Palestinian civilians”.

Kirby explained, “Israel is fighting against Hamas and has the right to defend itself”.
