The United States informed Iran that it had “no connection or prior knowledge” of the attack launched by Israel against the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus.

Israeli and US officials said that Israel notified the US administration of the attack a few minutes before its air force carried out the strike, adding that it didn’t ask for the US green light to launch it.

According to a US official, “the Israeli warnings weren’t detailed,” as explaining that they arrived when the warplanes were already in the air.

He explained that the Israelis didn’t inform the United States that they were planning to bomb a building in the Iranian embassy complex.

On the other Hand, and in rare move, Washington has sent a message to Tehran, saying that “the Biden administration is deeply concerned that the Israeli strike may lead to a regional escalation”.

For his part, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi confirmed on Tuesday that the strikes that targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus and led to the killing of seven Revolutionary Guard members on Monday won’t pass without a response.

The Iranian president said, “Day after day, we witness the strengthening of the resistance front and the disgust and hatred of free countries for the illegal nature of Israel,” adding that “this cowardly crime won’t go unanswered”.
