US State Department official begins an African tour includes 4 countries
The Senior Advisor for African Affairs at the US State Department, Massad Boulos, begins an African tour that includes four countries in eastern Africa: The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Kenya, and Uganda.
According to a statement from the US State Department, the Lebanese-American official’s tour aims to encourage US investment in the region.
The US State Department explained that Boulos and his team, including Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Corinna Sanders, will meet with heads of state and business leaders on the trip to advance peace efforts in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The US State Department announced last week, appointing Massad Boulos as an advisor on African affairs, in addition to his position as senior advisor to the US president for Arab and Middle East affairs.
Masoud Boulos’ tour comes a day after US President Donald Trump announced tariffs on US imports from around the world, including several African countries, including the countries included in the tour.
