Ukraine announces its acceptance of the US peace offer to end the war and calls for pressure on Russia to stop its military attacks
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Friday that his country has accepted the US peace offer, calling for pressure on Russia, which continues its attacks against Kyiv.
In a press statement from NATO headquarters in Brussels, he explained that the obstacle to peace isn’t Kyiv, which accepted the US offer, but rather Moscow, which has shown hesitation and continued its attacks on Ukraine.
“We accepted the American peace offer, and Ukraine isn’t the obstacle to peace,” Sybiha added.
He continued, “It’s now clear who wants peace and who wants war… We must force Russia to make peace”.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister stated that Russia carried out a massive drone attack on the Kharkov region on Thursday.
Following a phone call between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on March 18, it was announced that Moscow and Kyiv had reached an agreement to halt attacks on energy infrastructure for 30 days.
The Kremlin previously announced that the agreement with the United States includes a halt to attacks on facilities such as oil refineries and energy pipelines in both Russia and Ukraine.
Ukraine launches attacks on Russia from time to time in response to Moscow’s ongoing offensive on its territory since 2022.
