US Central Command announces the end of its operations against Iran
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Wednesday that it had completed a series of strikes against Iran.
Iran, for its part, announced that it had targeted US military bases in the region, after the US Central Command announced that its forces had begun launching what it described as “self-defense strikes” against Iran, after midnight Tehran time, at the direction of US President Donald Trump.
The Khatam al Anbiya Construction Headquarters, Iran’s highest military command, announced that it had targeted several US bases in the region in response to what it described as “American aggression in southern Iran”.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had targeted the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain with drones, warning of more severe responses if American hostilities continue.
It also announced drone attacks on Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait and the Azraq Air Base in Jordan.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in its statement, “The warmongering American regime launched attacks in the early hours of this morning, under flimsy pretexts, on several points in Jask, Sirik and Qeshm, resulting in damage to a communications tower in Sirik and the destruction of two water tanks belonging to the city”.
According to the Iranian media, the Revolutionary Guard also targeted four locations inside the Azraq air base in Jordan, including hangers for F-35 aircraft.
In a statement issued by the Jordanian Armed Forces, a responsible military source stated that “Jordanian air defense systems intercepted and shot down five missiles launched from Iran towards the Azraq area in the Zarqa Governorate on Tuesday evening,” without any human casualties or material damage.
The US military carried out a series of airstrikes against Iran on Wednesday, which US President Donald Trump said were in response to the Islamic Republic shooting down an Apache military helicopter belonging to his forces the day before.
The Iranian media reported at least two waves of attacks along Iran’s southern coast.
