Ukraine: We targeted 34% of Russia’s strategic missile carriers
The Ukrainian Security Service claimed on Sunday that Ukrainian forces successfully targeted approximately 34% of Russian warplanes carrying strategic missiles in drone attacks on several military airfields in Russia.
A statement published by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) on Telegram said that the special operation, codenamed “Bavotini” or “Spider Web,” caused losses estimated at $7 billion to Russian strategic aviation.
The statement explained that additional details about the operation would be announced later, stressing that Ukraine focused its attacks on strategic missile carriers at major airports within Russian territory.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that air bases in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions were attacked by Ukrainian-launched drones, resulting in fires on some aircraft.
The ministry explained that the drones were launched from areas close to these airports, causing fires to break out in a number of Russian aircraft.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian social media accounts published details of a large-scale drone operation, in which more than 40 Russian aircraft were damaged, including A-50 early warning aircraft and Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 bombers.
These accounts also shared footage showing the attacks targeting some of the Russian bombers.
